re | wire : Moving from Sexual Addiction to True Godly Connection
First Steps on the Journey Toward Freedom from Pornography
Far too many men fight a secret battle.
Now more than ever, pornography pervades our culture, and it's eating masculinity alive. Good men everywhere are finding themselves caught in the black hole of addiction, with little hope of finding their way out. Godly men who truly want to live lives of freedom and wholeness, are trapped in cycles of shame, guilt, fear and despair.
This course offers hope. While the true and deep work of restoring the soul takes time and the skillful aid of a professional counselor, this course provides an introduction to the process of healing. Designed for individuals or small groups, you will learn how to begin the journey of recovering your masculinity. No online course or book can offer the full scope of recovery from addiction...only a relationship can. Yet here you will learn the first steps necessary to start the process.
Many pornography recovery programs focus on the symptoms and the behavior, and at best gloss over, or at worst completely miss the issues of the heart. While addressing unwanted addictive behavior is important, especially at first, true healing and restoration comes when the deeper concerns of the heart are addressed with curiosity and kindness. This is not an "accountability" program. This is the onramp to a new way of thinking and being that will lead down the path to heart-level recovery.
I have written this course with my clients in mind, providing them with a "primer" to our work together. It is designed to offer the information typically covered in the first several sessions of counseling. I recommend completing this course (either individually or with a small group) before starting with a therapist. You will find the work face-to-face much more efficacious if you already have the categories and awarenesses presented here.
As such, this course is equivalent to 3-4 counseling hours, valued at over $400. However, to provide more men the opportunity to start the process of healing, I am offering it at $79.
Filled with kindness and gospel-infused hope, you will learn how pornography hijacks desire, about the cycle of addiction, how to manage temptation, how addiction is idolatry, what first steps you need to take toward freedom, and an introduction into the realms of the heart.
This course includes:
- First Steps Toward Healing: An Introduction
- Triage: Stopping the Bleeding and Clearing the Airway
- Triage: Getting a Pulse and Fight/Flight
- Addiction Cycle: Behavioral
- Addiction Cycle: Emotional
- Issues of the Heart
- Next Steps and Conclusion
Individual Reflection Worksheets and a Group Discussion Guide are provided for each segment, encouraging you to dive deeper into your own story as you review the content. Additionally, a PDF of each slide deck is offered to help you keep track, review the information, and have it always accessible for the future.
WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
This course is designed for men who long for more. These are men who have made the declaration that pornography will no longer hijack their God-given masculinity, and who have determined to get their life back. It has been designed with small groups in mind. While individuals will certainly benefit greatly from this course, it is highly recommended to walk through this material together with a small group -- it will make the process all the more effective.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor, founder of Restoration Counseling Center, a prior National Campus Director with Cru International, and now the founder and CEO of Restoration Project, a ministry devoted to the restoration of men's hearts, I regularly work with men who live under the shroud of shame and hopelessness. I am also the author of Man Maker Project: Boys are Born, Men are Made and the Brotherhood Primer. I firmly believe that despite years of addiction, men can be restored to God, themselves and to truly intimate relationships.
